Formed in 2011, Mad Hatter Mood is a band --- through its highly distinctive sound, look, and feel --- dedicated to playing one of the most eclectic collections of songs you'll ever hear coming from a single stage.
Just consider the breadth and range of artists that Mad Hatter Mood presents in a show: they travel back in time to play with renewed soul, funk, and verge tunes from Nina Simone, Dean Martin, Bessie Smith, Billie Holiday, and the Coasters. Mad Hatter Mood explores the classic rock, Memphis soul, and early New Wave and sounds of the 1960s and '70s with songs by Van Morrison, April March, Eddie Floyd, Wilson Pickett, Sam Cooke, Linda Ronstadt, and the Pretenders. Mad Hatter Mood also delves into today's rhythms and melodies with music by everyone from Elvis Costello, Gavin DeGraw, the Heavy, Beck, Adele, Prince, No Doubt, Nellie McKay, Duffy, and Amy Winehouse.
If Mad Hatter Mood has a mantra, it is to be utterly, absorbingly entertaining as it plays truly fun, "never would have thought of that" entertaining music --- music that is eitehr a bonafide classic, or is a contemporary tune fast on its way to becoming a classic.
Mad Hatter Mood is led by lead vocalist, Lindsay Hightower, a veteran singer-actress of both Nashville and Los Angeles. Rod Bollinger has 30-plus years as one of DFW's leading guitarists and singers (and the "John Lennon" in perhaps Texas' most revered Beatles tribute band, Me and My Monkey). Courtney Guyon sax-playing prowess and keys work has led her to tour with Willie Nelson and Chicago, while bassist Peter Champagne's deeply resonant playing has long anchored the rock-solid rhythm section of Mars Hill, one of DFW's top party bands. Finally, Andy Weaver's drumming, percussion, and vocals have been in enormous demandin the DFW Metroplex for the last decade, and have taken him to Europe to tour. Together, the five members of Mad Hatter Mood channel their vast musical experience into a single vision aimed at one goal: to get you musically in a "Mad Hatter Mood".
