TRANSLUCID could quite easily be the next great band of our generation. Their Psychedelic Rock n Roll is so fresh and unique that is sets them firmly aside and way above any other band on the scene at the moment and in Guitarist Steve Pye the band have a talent not seen since the likes of Johnny Marr & John Squire.
TRANSLUCID (Formally “The Riots”) were formed when old School Mates Steve Pye (Guitar) and Joe Walsh (Drums) started jamming together and decided to start a Band during the Summer of 2007. After a short time practicing Steve and Joe recruited a Bass Player in the form of Danny Diamond the Bass Player from local band “The Blind Riots” who soon started jamming along with them in Joe’s Garage. Danny soon realized the potential of both Steve and Joe and persuaded both Luke Medlock (Rhythm Guitar) and Tom Bevan (Vocals) to leave The Blind Riots and form a new band along with them. The Band chose the name of “The Riots” as so many members were originally from “The Blind Riots”. Dropping “Blind” as if the original Band had gained its vision / direction now Lead Guitarist Steve Pye and Drummer Joe Walsh were the driving force behind them.
Danny Diamond was replaced on Bass by Mark Holdcroft in early 2008 and a few months later Lead Singer Tom Bevan was replaced by a much more powerful and raw Vocalist in the form of Dan Watkin. Rhythm Guitarist Luke Medlock left the band about a year later and the band chose not to replace him and make a go of it as a 4 piece. In early November 2010 Bass Player Mark Holdcroft left the band and after four months of auditioning various applicants Ben “Piglit” Nixon joined the band in early March 2011. After all the line up changes and a change in musical direction the band decided on the more Psychedelic name TRANSLUCID in June 2011.
