It all started back in 2007 with a couple of simple phone calls between friends who wanted to play music. With total uncertainty as to what direction the music would take, we simply started rehearsing and decided to let nature take its course. Wes Tucker (the band's namesake), who has played bluegrass for 30 years (including 16 years in France), began sending musical samples to the other guys in the group. As things seemed to progress in the bluegrass direction, Bill decided to try his hand at the upright bass, and, along with some excellent compositions by the talented Brian Becker, the Tucker Mountain Band "sound" began to take shape. A few months later, Carol Osborne came along, a classically-trained violinist, who, being from Ozark country in Missouri, was "more than tickled" to have the opportunity to pick up fiddling. Sometime later Mike Smith joined us on mandolin, harmonica, jaw harp, kazoo, auctioneering and joke telling, and the stage was set. Our most recent addition is Coy Wylie, guitar (and just about everything else) picker from Amarillo, Tx. Today, the Tucker Mountain Band sound is a unique blend of bluegrass, folk-americana, a touch of country with just a smidgen of celtic thrown in for good measure. We love playing and love honoring God through the talents and gifts He's given us!
