Mark Cunningham / Bio

Reaction to First Responder:
"An Awesome Tribute"
The 9/11 Patch Project
"Fire Services world wide would thank you for this glimpse of Heroism in Terrorism". - Steve Chilton
"We have been blessed to have your song touching so many of my brothers who served by my side at Ground Zero" - Vincent Forras, 9/11 First Responder
"I was in the middle of the whole mess on 9-11, it is quite a story. Lost some great friends and am still dealing with the memories. Your soothing music tempers the tragic story of the first responders. God bless them and all of us who were affected by this cowardly event."
Pete Flanagan, New York

"We made an obligation to "never forget". Thank you for the contribution"

Rescue 1 Fire Dept New York
"A beautiful song. I really hope that we don't ever forget what happened that day and the feeling's of sadness yet being so very proud of America and how we came together as a nation and as a people...lets never forget all those that lost and are still losing their lives"

Pat Stanek

Mark has recently finished a 3 month USA tour, to promote his newly released singles "America" and "The Bridge", and has just released his 9/11 Tribute, "First Responder" in June, 2012. (iTunes etc). His live act consists of original folk, rock and rootsy material and it received a great reception in New York City and in the many famous music halls on the New Jersey shore. Mark's stage presence and lyrics are a talking point and he has gained many new fans and friends on this trip, with comparisons to fellow Irishman, Glen Hansard and Bruce Springsteen's more folky side.

Mark’s recorded work features collaboration with some of Ireland's and America's most talented musicians, world renowned fiddler Frankie Gavin, Gavin Glass (Lisa Hannigan band), and drummer Christian Best (Mick Flannery band). Mark is currently tracking his Debut Album "Songs for People Who Read Books" with Grammy nominated New Jersey producer, Michael Ghegan, who heard Mark play while on tour and invited him to work with him to record some of his songs.

Mark’s writing is always searching for the truth in the subjects he writes about. According to Mark "The most important thing about the truth is it's easy to understand". If the song is strong enough to support different levels of interpretation then that's a measure of its worth and an indication that it will travel.

Sometimes songs don't need to be deep, especially love songs, they just need to say simple things like - "I love you and I will always be here for you". But songs that ask bigger questions will inspire as many answers to those questions as there are listeners."
