Diana Lawrence and Diana & the Dishes / Bio

Called a “drop dead show stopper” by Music Connection Magazine, pianist/singer/songwriter DIANA LAWRENCE draws on styles as wide-ranging as rock, soul, folk and cabaret. Diana has toured the east coast and the greater Midwest, while also performing at some of the best venues Chicago has to offer, including the Double Door, Schubas and the Green Mill. In August 2010, Diana’s band, Diana & the Dishes, released their debut album, “Take A Picture.” Diana’s latest album, “To: Aging Children,” a solo EP-in-the-form-of-a-letter, was released in 2012.

Garnering comparisons to Ben Folds and Fiona Apple and Regina Spektor, Chicago band DIANA & THE DISHES presents a unique, high-energy recipe of pop, soul, wit, tight musicianship and contagious fun. Since forming in 2008 around singer/songwriter/pianist, Diana Lawrence, the band has have taken their city by storm, playing rock venues such as the Double Door, the Abbey Pub and Subterranean, as well as listening rooms, including Uncommon Ground and The Green Mill. Their debut album, “Take A Picture,” was listed in Music Connection Magazine’s Hot 100 for 2011.
