The "Time Machine Band" has been together for 30 years. Members of the band are John Vargas(vocals and bass guitar). John was born in Tooele, Utah and moved to Taos at the age of 5. He started playing guitar at the age of 10. He took flamenco guitar lessons from Ramon Hernandez and Antonio Mendoza. He started his first group in Jr. High at the age of 14 and played for local soc hops and other school functions. John played with a popular Taos group called the Zobras and the group won several battle of the band's competitions, competing against groups such as the Defiants and other top Northern New Mexico groups. While in college, he played at The Sambra , a popular night club in Santa Fe with the Zobras. After college, John played with a popular group called the Midnighters in Albuqurque. When he moved back to Taos he played with various groups until becoming established in the "Time Machine Band". At the age of 61 , John has been playing for almost 50 years.
Tony Lauphenimer (drummer). Tony moved to Taos from New York. He has played with variuos country groups including Michael Hearne, Jimmy Stadler, Stew Stuart, doing a USO tour in Korea and Mezcal.
Vito Trujillo Jr. (Lead Guitar/vocals)was born March 31st 1975 at Los Alamos, New Mexico. He has lived in Taos for most of his life. His interest in music began when he was 8 years old. His father was instrumental in teaching him how to play the guitar. Vito started playing professionally in a band when he was 12 years old. He joined with his father to become a member in the "Vito Y Alan " band. In 2006 Vito was asked by John and Tony to join the "Time Machine Band".The trio have been performing throughout Southern Colorado and, Northern New Mexico and have become a very popular musical group.
John and Tony have been the core of the band for 30 years as mentioned previously. As a band they have worked with numerous guitar players during their careers.
