Do you gaze at stars? Swim in mountain streams? If so, you may like the Lost Woods.
The Lost Woods is an indie-rock group that writes catchy footstompers and dreamy lullabies with nature-infused lyrics. Springing forth from their love of mountains and the streams and paths that run through them, their musical roots grow deep--blending together classical, Americana, and hillbilly rock. From ballads to footstompers, the Lost Woods will take you on a seldom-trodden path to musical adventure and a place they call home.
Luke Bayon (bass, vocals, piano, guitar) and Jenny Lavina (drums) formed the Lost Woods in 2011. In March '11, they gave up their successful cover band, SATIRE, to work on the Lost Woods full-time.
Luke's bass playing reflects his classical piano training (he holds a Bachelor of Arts in Music) and his love of the composer Chopin's works. Luke's bass lines are melodic and purposeful and many Lost Woods' songs have had their beginnings on the bass. In 2012, when the Woods' found themselves heading in a folk-ish direction, Luke picked up the acoustic guitar with the same passion as bass and piano, putting in 8-10 hour practice sessions over a six-month time period. Luke now plays acoustic guitar for their live shows, with a bass backing track. Jenny Lavina started playing drums in 2009. After leaving her job at the Central Intelligence Agency and moving back to her hometown, she found herself restless with the long rainy season of the redwood forest. She started beating on the kitchen counters with wooden spoons along to her favorite songs and...BANG!...a drummer was born!
Their debut EP, Mountainside, was released in June 2012. They released their follow-up album, a seven-song EP called 'Newborn Sun', December 10, 2013. A new album, At Night, is set to be released September 4, 2015. Thanks so much for visiting!
