Once upon a music time, a 10 month baby named Christine began to whistle. Then at 3, she sang made up songs to her dog. She took piano from a belching nun at 9, and taught herself guitar at 22.
Since then, Christine has formed bands, written hundreds of songs, appeared on radio and TV, toured, recorded and produced her own music, collaborated with other recording artists, released her music on a label in Italy, a film in the UK and in an award winning Canadian documentary.
After the dissolution of her bands in the 90s, Christine began to focus on her solo work with a goal to record a full length album. She had shared the stage with a variety of acts ranging from chamber music to mainstream like Ween, Junior Kimbrough and Iggy Pop. Iggy's reaction to her performance at the Detroit State Theatre was, “Wow, wow, wow!” While things were looking promising musically along with some recording offers, everything came to a halt when an injury left Christine unable to play guitar.
Jumping into the future, Christine picked her guitar back up, started sharing the stage again with some phenomenal and notable acts, then released her debut solo album, Tapping Trees in a Trinket Box of Treasure in 2012. Tapping Trees is a lush cinematic, dreamy, with a dash of jazz and a pinch of pop album that puts a fresh spin on fusion revealing a new definition with every listen. It was nominated for various awards including Hamilton Music Awards and Independent Music Awards for Best Eclectic Song, Best Adult Alternative and Best Album Art to which she won for the artwork. Tapping Trees received many great reviews and airplay from around the globe. The album features an array of organic wind, reed, string and world instruments, and also features a very rare collection of vintage and museum quality keyboards including the Chamberlin, Mellotron, Optigan, Orchestron and ARP 2600.

“Spending an hour with the narcotic splendor of Ms. Leakey’s sultry sounds is like taking a stroll underwater through limpid, star-spangled honey... on Ecstasy.” - The Millionaire (Michael Cudahy), Combustible Edison, Luxuria Music
“Tapping Trees in a Trinket Box is what would happen if Karen Carpenter went into outer space with Tom Waits and gave birth to Syd Barrett.” - Unknown
Now Christine is well into the progress of recording her second full length solo album in California and Canada. She is thrilled with the progress and can't wait to cast it out into the cosmos to reach appreciative ears in 2015!
