She performs internationally at festivals, conferences, theaters, weddings, restaurants and nightclubs. Sista Monica is a 2011 and 2010 Blues Music Award nominee for the "Best Soul Blues Female Artist of the Year". She also have received the 2011 "Band Leader of the Year" award by the Bay Area Blues Society. With her 6 piece recording and touring band, Sista Monica connects with each audience member and brings them into her emotional and passionate space.
Said to be "a fierce force of nature", Sista Monica carries the baton of the legendary blues women Etta James, Koko Taylor, Ruth Brown and Katie Webster. She has sass, vocal power, high energy, fun-loving, crooning, and delivers each phrase in her ballads with intensity.
Sista Monica and her band just recently returned in April 2011 from a month long tour in Avignon and Paris, France, Bern, Switzerland and Monte Carlo, Monaco. She and her band have already been invited back for the year 2012.
Sista Monica is also a record producer that has recorded and released 10 CDs on Indie record label - Mo Muscle Records. Parker is an award winning performer who has performed for the President of the United States at the Democratic National Convention in 2000. She was asked to perform in front of 15,000 blues lovers for Etta James (who became ill and hospitalized) at the San Jose Music Festival. She also had to take Koko Taylor's headline spot due to illness at the Milwaukee Summer Festival.
Sista Monica won the prestigious Monterey Bay Blues Festival "Artist of the Year" award in 2002 sharing this honor with BB King, Etta James, Charlie Musslewhite, and few other legendary artists.
In 2002, Sista Monica performed 21 city concerts at the "Night of the Blues Tour" in the country of Holland/The Netherlands with Chief Eddie Clearwater and Sherman Roberts. She has shared he stage with BB King in 2011 at the Catalyst in Santa Cruz, CA and The Neville Brothers at Heart & Soul Blues Festival in Minnesota in 2004.
