The name Backseat Continental suggests the lustiness of the iconic 1960's Lincoln Continental, from suicide doors to a backseat roomy enough for a journey of extraordinary pleasure revelation. Backseat Continental is reinventing rock and roll, with their coined, "vampire-porno-motown-metal" (a little dark, a little swanky, a lot of groove and always rockin!)
This dynamic band from Dallas, Texas is a mixture of Zepplinesque grooves and belting sultry female vocals of Autumn Barr. She combines the bluesy, ballsy stylings reminiscent of Etta James, Joan Jett and Grace Slick. Patrick Stark provides soulful guitar anthem driven hooks mixed with a haunting mix of keys, creating an incantation of sultry rock. The rhythm section is capped by thick dripping bass and driving drums laying a true rock and roll pocket. Backseat Continental's steamy sexy songwriting and sound forges revolutionary ground transcending both age and genre and erotically stimulating your rock and roll senses.
So turn up the volume, lean back, let your hair blow and experience the journey of the Backseat.
Lead guitarist, pianist, songwriter and founding member of Backseat Continental, Patrick Stark, started playing piano when he was 5 years old. He made a deal with his mom if he saved enough money to buy a guitar, he could quit piano. He realized at a young age that guitar players got the chicks, and so was his motivation to become a guitar god.
Patrick has played in Monster sponsored bands Strangleweed as and Hollow opening for Lillian Axe, Rik Emmet of Triumph, STYX, L.A. Guns, Angel, Bullet Boys, Pretty Boy Floyd, Faster Pussycat, Cowboy Troy, Molly Hatchet, Seven Mary Three, Tantric, Fastball, Blackberry Smoke, The Romantics, Tracii Guns, and Drowning Pool to name a few. He is known for his electrifying stage chemistry and multi-faceted musical talent you dare not want to miss.
Patrick is also an Executive Chef at the historical live music venue the Granada Theater and Sundown at the Granada. Currently he is preparing to launch a cooking show concept marrying both food and music. Be sure to check out his website www.starkravingchef.com
"Backseat Continental exudes diverse, entertaining, and sexy music making rock n roll exciting again in my opinion. It definitely has "legs" (no reference to our female lead singer :) and a niche in music that is forgotten today. Check my words in a year."--Patrick Stark
Autumn grew up in the hill country of Texas and played her first gig at 9 years old. Because of her love of the stage and performing she went on to develop her acting and dancing skills to appear on national commercials for McDonalds, Southwest Airlines, Delta Airlines, Black Eyed Pea and Target to name a few both as an actress and voice-over talent. She danced on the MTV Music Awards and went on to choreograph several national TV commercials including Dodge Trucks. She competed as a teen vocalist on the Ed McMahon hosted international hit show Star Search where she won six weeks in a row to become a semi-finalist. Only dabbling in modeling led her to a 6 page feature article in HAIR magazine and she was a staple model at the Dallas Apparel Mart starting in her early teenage years. Holding her own as a triple threat in singing, acting and dancing she was chosen out of tens of thousands people to be a finalist for the new Mickey Mouse Club where she held rank with Christina Aguilera, Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears. With her powerhouse voice, Autumn was asked to act as a Goodwill Ambassador from the USA and toured the USSR and Denmark performing in notable venues like Gorky Park and The Red Square. She acted in numerous films and landed a principle role in Richard Linklaters cult film Dazed & Confused playing the role of Stacy which eventually led her to leave Texas to pursue her acting career.
Even though Hollywood came knocking, Autumn's heart was always in music. At age 21 she signed a development deal with a major label in Nashville-- but growing up listening to Janis Joplin, The Allman Brothers and The Rolling Stones, she craved a music scene far edgier than Nashville could offer. Blues and rock & roll had her heart and she has been cultivating her dynamic and soulful sound and creating quite a following with her own band based out of Dallas. She was the cover model for Fort Worth Texas Magazine and was a featured member in the centerfold article as one of the the top 15 most eligible people in the city (to date-- the highest selling issue in the history of the magazine.) Autumns dynamic voice and stage presence has led her to open up for artists from Ray Charles to Grand Funk Railroad to Delbert McLinton.
"I feel like Backseat Continental is the project I've been preparing for my whole life. It allows me to pour all my crazy diverse musical background into one band where somehow it all fits perfectly. I havent been this excited about music and creating music--well, ever! I feel its time--Let the ride begin!! "--Autumn Barr
