Andre Riles, 1 of a Kind “1*O*A*K” also know as The Gateway City Rebel, was born in St. Louis Mo at Barnes Jewish Hospital. While living in Iowa as a freshman in High School he discovered that he had a talent for rap. His childhood friend Murray Cooper “MOE” formed a rap duo called MOE & Dre. They made a name for themselves with the help of Deejay Kip & Deejay Def Master Les. They became a force to be recognized, becoming B-Towns finest ever to graze the streets. Dre left Iowa for Florida and ended up back in St. Louis. Dre was still heavy in the streets. In 2004 he had a choice to make. It was either in and out of jail or focus on this lyrical gift that God gave him. He chose the music over the streets and then named himself 1of a Kind because his style was so different. As a person he really is 1 of a kind. He did his first open mic show in St. Louis on Natural Bridge Road at a Lounge called Cougars. He rocked the crowd. Dre continued to do other shows throughout the St. Louis area. Then he went on to record his first demo in 2008 at Young Rocky Maverick’s recording studio, and released his first local mix tape hit single called “Bad Guy”, which started his legacy as a hip hop artist in St. Louis. In the streets of the Lou, Dre is known as 1 of a Kind “1*O*A*K”. His influences are Too Short, Ice Cube, 2Pac, Nas, Project Pat, Juvenile, Eightball & MJG, UGK, The Geto Boys, Spice One, M.C.
