Rockabilly Country Blues, all original songs & a few old classics.Their sound is a mix of 50s rockabilly, with a little 40s blues, & a twist of the 60s. All original & unique music
Darby Warren formed this band in 2010. His desire was to develop a unique and original sound. The kind of music that makes you want to tap your foot and get up and dance.
Darby is a songwriter, plays rhythm guitar, acoustic, stand up bass, electric bass, slide, harp, and lead vocals.
Darby has been writing music his entire life, but finally decided to share his music by forming, The Darby Warren Project.
Darby states that his music may not be mainstream, but it is certainly original. He doesn't want to be just another cover band. He hopes to gather his own following.
Darby initially wanted to form an old style trio band with a stand up bass player, but has since added a drummer to complete the sound of the band. Darby states, " I love the stand up bass! It's such a unique sound, a beautiful instrument. I enjoy playing stand up myself, but cannot play rhythm guitar, harp, and sing at the same time. I was thrilled to find a stand up bass player. It's an old style instrument that you just don't see much of anymore"
Band mates, David McElhany,Dave Stopani and Mark Wynn were perfect additions.
David plays acoustic guitar, harmonizes and sometimes sings lead. David has performed professionally for many years. David's roots are in country ballads. He has always been a huge Willie Nelson fan, and can impersonate him very well with his vocals. David has also performed at The Gladewater Opry for several years. During the 90s he performed regularly at Canton's in Longview, Texas.
Mark plays drums and also vocals. Marks music career began in high school. He later joined a band and played professionally for many years. Mark has played with the Gladewater Opry and the Garland Opry for six years. Mark's musical roots are in Classic Rock and Blues....later Country.
David Stopani is the newest and final member to the band. David plays lead guitar, electric bass, stand up bass and vocals. David's music career began when he was a child. He self-taught himself playing his Mom's Folk guitar learning chords from a chart. David also played the French Horn in his High School marching band as well as joined the Men's vocal group at Garland High School. Later David played the bass in a Jazz band and later a rock band. He also performed in a Hip Hop Duo from 2003-2006.
The band is very excited about David joining their group. "Just gives our music a fuller and more complete sound. David is extremely talented and we are really glad he has joined our group", says Darby Warren
