Formed in 2010 by ex-drummer Jon Patterson, the Canadians of Atrous Leviathan banded together to break into the Vancouver Island metal scene. Atrous Leviathan's sound spans the history of the metal genre. Every song a time warp from blistering blast beat to solid grooves to atmospheric breakdowns. Atrous Leviathan will continue to give you a reason to keep coming back. The band's live show will even have those not akin to the metal genre banging their head.
After playing their first show with Corpse Corrosion’s Tribune in 2011, things quickly came together for the band. The band built a strong foundation of fans with their energetic and unison live performance sure to make even the people in the back bang their heads.
Their following continued to grow as the band worked their way to play with local giants Scimitar and Unleash the Archers. They then ventured off the island to broaden their following within British Columbia.
In 2013, Atrous Leviathan released their demo, “Troll Fire”. Though the demo lacked production, fans “craved more”(Hatton), and before touring western Canada (including an appearance at Armstrong Metal Fest), the band recorded their first full-length debut album.
In April of 2014 the band independently released their debut album, “Brazen Bull.” The album was labelled “a kick to the face”(Hatton), “[a] Brazen Bull in the china shop that is your ears”(Bloodboil promotions), and “absolutely killer”(Asian Invasion). The release show was a success. The band now looks forward to what the future has in store.
Over the short course of which the band has been playing they have shared the stage with bands such as West of Hell (Reversed Records), Archspire (Season of Mist), and Skeletonwitch (Prosthetic Records). Atrous Leviathan is slated to tour western Canada again this summer.
