I am now working on an album "Hillbilly Outlaw Blues" which is nearly complete. I am now playing some solo gigs and am looking to put together a country/bluegrass/country rock band. We likely have 4 members but would still love to add a FIDDLE player (Northern VA) area. Our likely practice spot will be in Sterling VA just after working hours 6ish (on Mon or Tue or Wed or occasional Fri eve - preferably Wed eve once a week).
Also, I am helping a musicians grassroots organization expand "ITNS Radio / Sam Watkins Country-wide promotions". We are looking for doers and dreamers. Dreaming is okay but you have starting working on that dream to see it succeed. We can help promote your music or business. Contact me for EXCELLENT AFFORDABLE promotions. These are some down to earth folks and are also musicians! Send me an email to: "hbamusic(at)gmail.com" for more details.
I have been playing music (mostly BASS) for many years. I have been in several bands over the years (mostly country / rock) such as 'Sundown' (Marc Frisbie, Jack Frisbie, Keith George - recorded by Ray Tilkens in early 80's), 'The all around cowbody band' (Chris Hoffman, Donnie Naylor, Paul Sigmon & later Colin Hoffman), 'Redneck Rhythm Section', 'MT Pockets & The Loose Change Pickers'. I most recently played bass in my son Garrett's band called 'halfPAST3' (alt rock / country rock). We took this little band (3 original members: Garrett Hoffman, Colin Hoffman, Gary Hoffman) from my kitchen to play all kinds of venues and festivals including the National Cherry Blossom Festival.
I have a wide range of influence and like almost all kinds of music. My favorite entertainer/singer of all time is Marty Robbins. He also wrote and performed many music styles. I love some many different bands, singers, & musicians I could be writing here all day so I will just leave it at Marty Robbins.
I think some of my songs are a fusion of bluegrass/country/folk. Some are a fusion of rock/jazz/funk. I guess that puts me squarely in AMERICANA genre.
