Singing even before she could form complete sentences, Jenifer Kinder is an experienced vocalist who puts her heart and soul into each song that she writes and produces. A Reading, PA native, Kinder has always had a passion for the performing arts. She began studying dance and gymnastics at the age of two and has been singing for audiences since five. In her teen years, Jenifer was inspired by Broadway musicals and took lead roles in “Annie”, “The Music Man” and “Peter Pan”, while also recording demos, jingles, and commercials in hopes of one day breaking into the music industry.
Although she has been studying music since she was a child and learning from greats like Whitney Houston and Michael Jackson, it was Mariah Carey who taught Jenifer that her voice was an instrument. “I learned to use my voice in a completely different way from listening to her,” explains Jenifer. By watching and learning from a multitude of different artists Jenifer was able to take what she adopted from each one and incorporate it into her own style.
As an adult Jenifer would come to learn that there are many ways to be recognized as an entertainer and singer besides all of the accolades that come with “making it big”. For many years, Jenifer's dedication to performing allowed her to work as a full-time touring musician with The Uptown Band (http://www.uptownbandmusic.com/), a cover band that has given Jenifer the opportunity to hone in on her skills as a performer and make long lasting relationships as a respected songstress on the East Coast.
In 2004, she released her first solo album,Show Me More; however, it is her 2014 releaseTwisted that has given Jenifer new life as a singer and songwriter. Appreciating everything that has led up to this point and embracing a newfound freedom, Twisted finds Jenifer experimenting with many different musical styles, forging them into one, in an organic and refreshing way. Recorded in her home studio, Jenifer takes pride in the raw sentiment that the studio gives to her sound.
During the ten years between her first and second albums, Jenifer fell in love with the music of the late Amy Winehouse. “Her music turned my world upside down,” she explains. Since then, Jenifer has performed her “Amy Flys in Paradise” tribute show to a number of sold out audiences, dressed from head-to-toe in Amy garb, tattoos and all, impressively belting out some of Winehouse's most popular hits. However, It wasn't until 2010, that Jenifer wrote her first song. Although she has been singing and performing all of her life, the ability to write music was not something that came easily to her. Despite this, writing song lyrics would be the very thing that would help Jenifer get through the pain of losing two very important people in her life. “Something changed the way that my mind worked musically during that time.” Like a true artist, Jenifer turned to the music and poured her soul into the songs that now make up the album Twisted. To date, Jenifer has written over thirty original songs.
A seasoned artist to say the least, the sky is the limit for Jenifer Kinder. Her drive and dedication to her craft shine through on every project and performance that she takes on. She has performed on some of the biggest stages in the country, alongside of some of the most well known musicians, but she wants more, and she won't rest until all of her goals as an artist are reached. So hold on tight as you embark on this Twisted journey that is being fueled by a love for music and an honest desire to give the world, the very best of Jenifer Kinder
