Young Kidd / Bio

Born and raised in the Central community of Winnipeg, Young Kidd started writing rhymes in high school. Gaining buzz within the Winnipeg Hip Hop community, "Young Kidd" started making regular performances at local clubs and nightspots. His first release titled "I Go Hard" sold well and gained exposure through word of mouth and the internet. It wasn't until his second release, titled "10 x 10", that Frank solidified his spot as a young and promising Hip Hop Artist.

In June 2010, Young Kidd's second CD "10 x 10" was voted Best Local CD by the people of Winnipeg (as taken by survey in 'Uptown Magazine').

In November 2010, "10 x 10" was nominated for Best Hip Hop Album of the Year at the Aboriginal Peoples Choice Music Awards. His lead single "Hometown" was also nominated for Single of the Year.

In May 2011, Young Kidd was voted Best Solo Artist by a survey taken by 'Uptown Magazine'.

"Young Kidd" has also reached the number 1 spot on the Streetz FM Top 10 Countdown on 3 separate occasions. His YouTube videos have a combined 1 million views, and that number is steadily growing.

In December 31, 2010, Maclean's Magazine published a Special Issue which featured Frank Fontaine, myself, and other up and coming local artists. The article, titled "Straight Outta Winnipeg", was written by Martin Patriquin and described YK as "the city's first bona fide rap superstar".

His highly anticipated 3rd release is called "Wonderful Winnipeg" and will be released this year.
