The Garrett Nordstrom Situation (GNS) has released their second full-length album entitled, A Noise Guidebook. Nordstrom and Kansas City’s Larry Gann (Hall and Oates, Elton John) produced the record.
With A Noise Guidebook, GNS has crafted a hard-hitting; deep groove sound that incorporates supple funk, pop and rock reminiscent of David Bowie meets the Talking Heads. A Noise Guidebook showcases the talents of the Situation (Scot Eldridge/drums, Craig Kew/bass, Rich Wood/guitar, Chad Rex/guitar, Jen K. Johnson/vocals, Meshell Devon/vocals as well as several guests and session musicians including Kansas city blues/jazz legend, Lonnie McFadden (trumpet) and troubadour Jerry Forney (steel guitar).
GNS has proven to be one of Kansas City’s most versatile acts and is one of the few acts with the ability to perform at diverse and eclectic showcases such as the Crossroads KC, Wakarusa Festival, Jardines, the Riot Room, the Phoenix, The Bottleneck, Jazz on 39th and the Uptown Theatre. GNS has recently shared the stage with such notable acts as the Neville Brothers, Dumpstafunk, Carbon Leaf, Kelley Hunt, Mofro and Carolyn Wonderland. GNS will be following up the record release with an exhaustive live schedule.
