Robert Secrist / Bio

Robert Secrist was born in Buffalo, NY in 1956. He began to study the piano at age 4 and turned to guitar at age 12. Robert studied with Oswald Rantucci of Buffalo, Oscal Ghiglia at the Aspen Music Festival and Leonid Bolotine at the Mannes College of Music. Robert has also studied with Andres Segovia. He graduated in 1979 with highest honors and became a faculty member upon graduation. His second recording for Musical Heritage, Contemporary Spanish and Latin Americam Guitar Music (MHS 4168645), released in 1980, has been a best seller for 30 years, and is widely regarded as a definitive recording of the literature it contains. Robert is also co-owner, along with his wife Erica Kalick, of Erica's Rugelach & Baking Co, a Brooklyn, NY based specialty bakery.
