OneSix / Bio

One of the oldest on going wars in the world. Culture shock in your birth nation. Stereotypes placed upon you. Hip Hop and Punk Rock influenced youth. Keeping your tradition while embracing the new one. Legally homeless. Welcome to OneSix.

OneSix (Bassam AbuFalasteen) was born to Palestinian parents in Chicago, Illinois. In 1992, he and his family returned to his home in Jerusalem, Palestine, where he would spend his childhood and early teen years. During his childhood and early teen years the Israeli-Palestinian conflict has made Bassam the person he is today. Usually when war gets thrown with growing up the assumption of a 'rough' living pops up, but for Bassam he was grateful to see a world where nothing is granted, which helped him see a side of life not every child/teen gets to see. In 2001 OneSix moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota, where he has remained since.

The start in music for OneSix started creating instrumentals for his fellow Hip Hop artists. In 2009 he decided to come out from behind the MPC and into the booth. OneSix music is a type that can be described in many ways, some have called it 'political', some have called it conscious Hip Hop, but to OneSix his main goal in music is to give voice to those who are voiceless, also to share his hardships hoping someone going through the same thing he went through can find 'that light at the end of the tunnel'

The 'I am OneSix' tape was released on September of 2011, which documented OneSixs life in the days he was living in Palestine and ended when he was moving back to the states.
Currently OneSix is in the studio recording his second project which is still untitled, up to this point he has not shared much information about the project but he did release that it will pick up where 'I am OneSix' left off, which was his immigration to the states, his life in a new society, the adjustment of an Arabian man in the United States after the 9/11 events happened, and the struggles he faced in his new home (Minneapolis)
