While Story and The Strangers is not yet a household name amid Kansas City’s music scene, the group’s five members are anything but strangers to the stage.
The group’s current lineup came together in late 2010 after wrapping up several individual projects and musical endeavors. After a brief series of songwriting sessions, the group’s chemistry was immediately evident, and what was initially a one-off experiment quickly began taking on an identity of its own.
Members are: Story (lead vocals, acoustic), Dylan (bass), Marshall (guitar), Meredith (keys, vocals), Jared (drums, vocals)
The group draws from an eclectic mix of influences ranging from gritty soul to modern pop. The result is a blend of powerful vocal melodies and harmonies anchored by infectious grooves and dynamic song arrangements.
But the group’s true essence lies in the stories behind the music. The raw emotion of human experience that can only be captured when pen touches paper; when initial chords are struck to tell the tale. The roots of each song, of each note, lay the foundation of the band’s live performance, delivering an experience that takes hold of listeners and doesn’t let go.
