When Billy Zenn (bass & vocals) decided to form a band, he did it the way he does everything; he went right for the throat and assembled a collection of the finest musicians to be found anywhere. Of course, it didn’t hurt that all of them were already his good friends. Together, they deliver immaculate musicianship, years of experience, an obvious sense of joy in the music, and a consistently high-energy show.
Doug Edwards handles rhythm guitar. Deceptively subtle, he can nail a groove like nobody’s business while simultaneously providing the kind of rhythmic color that can set the tone for any tune. A veteran of bands whose styles have ranged from pop to heavy metal, Doug is also a crackerjack recording engineer whose credits include both a wide array of music and national commercial work.
Jeff Kendall is the band’s lead guitarist. Whether he’s burning a lead, locking in a sublime rhythm part, singing backup, or doubling on keys and harp, Jeff is, frankly, indispensable to the Ringers sound. He easily handles any style, from funk to rock or R & B to blues, and often can be found sitting in or recording with many well-known, Central Ohio acts.
Ken Massey can be found in the Big Book of Rock & Roll---under the heading “rock solid”--- you’ll find a picture of Ken. The epitome of understatement, Ken’s playing shines with taste and unbridled power. Well known for his work with The Vectors, KGB and The Pink Flamingoes, among others, Ken is the heartbeat of The Ringers.
