Serge van Neck is a versatile composer, keyboardist and sound engineer with an eclectic taste in music. His musical style tends toward fusion jazz but is influenced by 20th-century classical composers such as Ravel, Debussy and Rachmaninov, as well as electronic music pioneers such as Jean Michel Jarre, Isao Tomita and Jean-Luc Ponty. The son of virtuoso Dutch pianist Hugo van Neck, Serge has been immersed in music since earliest childhood, and at a young age began demonstrating a talent for piano improvisation. He also picked up recording and sound engineering skills while playing around with his father's home studio. In addition to recording projects, Serge is involved in a classic rock cover band, and has previously been a member of an original progressive rock band. Much of his earlier work lies dormant on 1/2" 8-track reels, and that's probably where it will stay. In the spring of 2011, Serge's musical aspirations were reawakened after a long hibernation, and new compositions are on the way. Thanks for listening, and stay "tuned"!
Serge is looking for opportunities to collaborate with various culturally diverse musicians including those playing Native American, Latin, African, Middle Eastern and Indian traditional music and instruments.
