Jake Walden / Bio

Jake Walden is a California based singer/songwriter. Born and raised in the wine country of northern California, where they would sing Joni Mitchell songs in kindergarten. Shel Siverstein’s “The Giving Tree” is his favorite book. Fashioning himself a renaissance man at a young age, he was a competitive gymnast, star of local musicals, baseball all-star, and studied abroad in high school. Five years ago due to a broken heart Jake took off his shoes, opened the window and sat down to his piano and discovered a voice and some songs that would help make sense of it all. He took the next two years connecting with the piano and writing the songs that would become his debut album, Alive and Screaming which was released in 2008. It drew praise from CMJ, In Style, The Advocate and Instinct. Tracks have been licensed by MTV, Lifetime, ABC and The CW', plus independent films. LA famed venue The Hotel Café had been Jake’s live home. In 2008 the road called, and Jake spent the majority of the year criss-crossing the US playing clubs and small theatres, including a sold out show in NYC at The Bitter End – where many of his heroes once played. Through savvy use of social network MySpace and Facebook, Jake has built an ardent following of fans that connect with him via his intimate blog posts that his followers veraciously respond to. A few thousand copies of Alive and Screaming were sold the old fashioned way – from the trunk of his car – and direct to fans online. In 2009 Jake recorded a duet with actress/singer Bonnie Somerville of Leona Lewis’ worldwide smash “Bleeding Love.” And re-released his debut in a deluxe version to include that track plus live versions of fan favorites “The Line,” “The Storm,” and “We Are.” Jake Walden is a dreamer whose mother is proud of him. He believes that hope is a greater gift in life than love – and his message of hope resounds in his music. He will release his follow up album, Same Something Different, in Summer 2011
