Richard Hollis, is a native of Houston, Texas and is a singer-songwriter, producer as well as a national recording artist. Richard began his music career competing in talent shows in and around the great state of Texas at the age of 14. Today, his heart and mind is set on creating and performing music that will uplift and encourage men and women to be reconciled to Christ Jesus.
Hollis first discovered his love for music while playing drums at the age of 5 in his dad's pentecostal church. He later fell in love with singing and songwriting and began performing in clubs and area concerts providing opening support for headlining artist like Dave Hollister, H-Town, Mya and Dru Hill. In 1999 he and his group left Houston for New York seeking a record deal. While on that journey he was blessed to audition for label executives, A&R's and music producers such as Jheryl Busby, Rushion McDonald, Jermaine Dupri, Dallas Austin, Jay Z and Damon Dash. Littlle did he know, God was yet orchestrating HIS plan to bring him back home to his roots in the church. On a cold hotel floor in Manhattan God began to soften Richard's heart with the very tool the enemy used to pull him away from the church... Music! Richard knowing that his calling was much more than the dream of secular fame he was chasing, was lead to walk away from the genre all together and rededicate his life, soul and gift to his now Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
After taking a break from music and soaking in the Word of God, he accepted his calling into the ministry and was ordained as an Elder in 2003 by The Church of God in Christ under the leadership of the late Bishop G.E. Patterson. In 2007 he was lead to start an independent record label, True Light Recordings and in 2008 received the Best New Artist Award from The Texas Gospel Announcers Guild. In 2011 his single "You Will Never Find" was voted Best New Indie Single and won a lead spot on the Oasis Inspirational Radio Sampler CD. Through the calling of ministry Richard has been blessed to share the platform with r&b crooner Howard Hewitt, Stellar award nominee Chester D.T. Baldwin and traditional gospel recording group Endurance. He has provided opening support for contemporary gospel recording artists Kim Burrell, Gary Mayes & Nu Era, James Fortune & FIYA, Zacardi Cortez and GMA’s Dove award nominee Brian Courtney Wilson.
Hollis is currently promoting his debut EP Brighter Days which was recently nominated in four different catagories by the 2015 Inferno Urban Music Awards. He is also touring the US spreading the good news and living out the love of God by precepts and examples daily. The Brighter Days EP is available now on iTunes, Google Play and Amazon.
