"Kind Strangers" (formerly known as "Kindness of Strangers") is a original pop-rock trio led by singer-songwriter, guitarist Jeff Whatley of Raleigh NC.
Jeff is a talented musician that has a knack for writing songs in many different styles... from old swing, to blues, to pop and some really hard-rocking tunes too.
People say Jeff's songs remind them of, The Beatles, Rolling Stones, Tom Petty & Led Zeppelin.
Others hear a touch of Jakob Dylan and The Wallflowers. Jeff plays acoustic & electric guitars, and sings lead in all the songs.
Drummer & back-up vocalist Johnny Beacham of Cary NC has played with Jeff for many years. They even go as far back as having played music together in high-school. Johnny's drumming is rock-solid, and his voice blends in nice harmony with Jeff's .
In November of 2010, after a period of songwriting and recording, they decided to start their project up again and abbreviated the
band's name to "Kind Strangers". They were then looking for a bassist to complete the trio.
Ken Johnson of Bahama NC answered the call. Ken had been working with Katharine Whalen & William Dawson of "The Squirrel Nut Zippers"
as lead guitarist for their other band known as "Katharine Whalen's Lucky" since March of 2008.
Lucky dissolved in July of 2010, shortly after making a HD music video.
Ken wanted a new challenge and decided to move to playing bass. He joined Kind Strangers as their new bassist in early December 2010.
