DoC oCuLaR / Bio

Doc Ocular was established 2002 in Ashland, Oregon. Driven by a passion for creative-edged music and a full three-piece sound, Doc Ocular dominated the Southern Oregon scene until their 2007 exodus to Portland. Since then they have done everything from festivals and benefits to cable television and playing some of Portland’s finest venues. Doc Ocular’s explosive sound is fueled by their “under-water-funk” rhythm section and complemented by their “overdriven groove” guitar and as original as their sound is, they have been compared to the likes of The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Primus, Phish and The Beastie Boys. Doc Ocular is an incredibly captivating and intoxicating incident that has developed into a sonic rollercoaster of an experience… Performance Highlights “Emerald Empire” Hemp fest, Eugene OR “3 am” boxing & biking festival, Ashland OR “KZME” benefit show, Portland OR “Dirty Dog Productions” cable TV, Portland OR Local Played Venues Hawthorne Theatre The Good Foot Lounge The Bitter End The Red Room The Fez Ballroom The Twilight Room Ash St. Saloon Old Market Pub Rock’N’Roll Pizza Whiskey City Recordings S.M.O.D.O.F.U (the basement tapes) 2002 Recorded at “the house on the hill” (Ashland, OR.) and mastered/produced by Mr. Muru and Chris Canty at “The Funk Distillery” DoC oCuLaR (self-titled) 2009 Recorded in the Bat Cave (Vancouver, WA.) and mixed/mastered/produced by Chris Storms (formally of Farm Studios and apprentice of Garth Richardson: producer of Rage Against the Machine, Chevelle, KISS and Alice Cooper.)
