MC, DJ, producer, and all around hip hop aficionado, Encyclopedia Brown is a one man assault team on stage and off. An 80’s baby who grew up during hip hop’s golden era, Brown has expressed himself through all four elements of hip hop culture. After witnessing rap’s rise, fall, and subsequent renewal, he now sees fit to handle the task of further uplifting the genre that raised him. A die-hard fan of the music, Brown masterfully pens witty and articulate rhymes, each scrutinized with the ear of a seasoned listener. His namesake, taken from the famed fictional boy detective, and derived from his penchant for vocabulary, is one that suits him perfectly. A well known freestyle veteran, Brown cut his teeth rhyming in ciphers and open mics in Chicago’s underground scene during the late 90’s and early 2000’s, creating a name for himself as an accomplished lyricist in the process. The self proclaimed “word splicer for hire”, is on a mission to give a voice to the disgruntled fans who are fed up with the current state of hip hop.
