Within the last two decades the world of music has revolutionized and the industry has seen the birth of dynamic sounds, an evolution of its production and the introduction of artists of all guises.
Born and raised in Kingston Jamaica, Ryan Mark Reynolds, one of Jamaica‟s renowned recording artists derived as a stalwart of his generation. Ryan emerged during the era when there was a rapid elevation in the influence of Reggae Gospel music. Ryan, who attended the prominent Calabar High School, discovered his love for music and entertainment while exploring his talents and career options during his latter years at the institution. It was then that he realized his acute attention to disect the art of music and build an association with other likeminded teenagers. Subsequent to exploring the various styles and sounds of music, he discovered his niche and set on a path of developing his talent as a sing-jay; which is a style of music that combines singing and deejaying in the popular genre of dancehall.
In 1999, Ryan who had not yet graduated high school, attended a church crusade with a primary focus which was common among many young men at his age. He attended these meetings with a motive to check out the young women at the event; however notwithstanding this, God had a greater plan for Ryan. His quest for getting a date with a young woman turned out to be a date with destiny – a Godly destiny translating him into a minister of the gospel.
In 2005 Danny Brownie produced Ryan‟s debut album titled „Ryan Mark - The Chosen Prodigy‟. This was the beginning of a new horizon for Ryan and resulted in him participating in numerous performing assignments, award shows and appearances; including being a guest on closely watched local TV talk shows and being featured on some of Jamaica's biggest gospels shows such as Fun in the Son, Recharge, Genesis, Project 150 to name a few. His boundaries also expanded as he ventured to the USA and Canada, as well as various Caribbean territories to share the stage with Kirk Franklin, Israel Haughton, Bobby Jones, Toby Mac, Audio Adrenaline, Papa San, Crissy D, Chevelle Franklin, Stitchie, DJ Nicholas, Prodigal Son among many others.
The year 2008 saw the release of Ryan‟s second album entitled 'Tabernacle' which was produced on his Chosen Records label. With hit singles and music videos for the trademarked tracks “Weep” and “Right with You” the album has created waves within the local industry and has even seen the videos being aired on BET Gospel. Since then Ryan has enlarged his musical knowledge and empire by embarking on music and film production for his record label as well as venturing in the world of fashion by launching a line of T-shirts, embracing his “ISRAEL” insignia.
His third album titled „Israel‟ was released in July 2011 and was closely followed by the „Generation Israel‟ compilation album, which was released in June 2012 and showcased Ryan as a producer. With hit singles such as 'Souls Mi a Pree', 'Nah give up' and 'Already Done' continuing to storm the airwaves and his chart topping music video for the song 'Word of Prayer'; these projects has not only made an impact locally but also internationally.
In 2007 Ryan made the second greatest decision of his life and married Dawnette Nevers, who is more popularly known as „Crissy D‟. Dawnette was also a former secular artiste who also made the transition to Christ and the gospel music industry in 2003. However it was not many months after that the couple was challenged to endure a stern test of their collective faith, as they experienced the tragic loss of their first- born daughter, Ruth. Though being one of the most memorably difficult times for the couple, their joy was restored when they later welcomed their beautiful bouncing bundle of joy, Sarah; who is now three years old. Ryan Mark is also the younger brother of Minister Goddy Goddy.
