Documentary is a Hardcore band from Kansas City, MO with elements of Punk, Doom and Indy all interwoven into the mix. In March of 2014 Documentary released the EP “Dedicated To…” and continues playing shows locally in support of the release. "Dedicated To", to these ears, would be great on a mixtape with music such as The Rollins Band, and some of the 80s hardcore punk bands during their phases when they began incorporating metal into their music while still retaining punk elements as well. Think of SSD and the album "Break It Up" or maybe Jerry's Kids and "Kill Kill Kill" for a couple of examples.” - Calvin M Cotton, Radio Producer/Programmer/On-Air Host at KKFI-FM Kansas City
Three of the members of Documentary came from the breakup of the Metalcore band The Lufthansa Heist; Woody (Vocals), Ryan (Bass), John (Drums) and in the Spring of 2008 they joined forces with Frankie (Guitar) and formed the short lived band A Dead Child Named Brian. After months of hardships including a broken leg, injuries by vehicular assault and other life events the four members rejoined with a new direction and played their first show in the spring of 2009, shortly thereafter changing the name to Documentary. Josh (Guitar) would join the band late in 2013 and Documentary gained a more robust sound and greatly increased intensity.
Now a five piece, Documentary rides the edges of Punk, Metal and Indy music to bring an original, aggressive sound with unpredictable and intense live performances. Over the years the group has shared the stage with bands from many different genres including Seahaven, Murder Junkies, War Master, Full Blown Chaos and many others.
Documentary is playing Kansas City and surrounding areas relentlessly and with as many different bands and genres as possible in order to further broaden their fan base locally with an eye on small tours around the Midwest.
