The roots of Back Home can be traced back to 1999 when founding members Bob Gresh and Nico Reggie played a two man show in a friend’s basement that consisted of nothing more than an acoustic guitar and drums. While alcohol and other unidentified substances may have made some in that small audience think they sounded just fine as they were, both Bob and Nico knew they needed more pieces to complete their musical puzzle. And it didn’t take very long……
The same mutual friend (Vinnie Hermany) in whose basement that first show was played soon introduced Bob and Nico to lead guitarist Brian Clark. Upon being blown away by his exceptional skill, they enthusiastically welcomed Brian to the band, and took his recommendation that they bring in his childhood friend Mark Gabriel to play the bass. The rest, so to say, is history…..
Back Home has been playing local gigs in the Hazleton area for a little over a decade. In that time they have developed a reputation for being a band that gets people out of their seats and onto the dance floor. Playing an eclectic mix of music that pleases audience members representing several generations, no one leaves a Back Home show disappointed.
While staying close to their local roots, the band has also ventured outside of the area to play festivals such as the Grateful Garcia Gathering, and has opened up for nationally recognized artists like Rusted Root and David Nelson of New Riders of the Purple Sage. Recently, the band has focused their efforts on writing original music and recording a full length album. Back home is a band that has been around and is going places. Would you like to come along for the ride?
