In the summer of 1996, 3 teenagers set out on a musical mission that would change their lives forever. That mission: to create technical, thought provoking, message based music, to change the conversation and thus the world. Hailing from Bladensburg, in Prince George’s County, Maryland, the resulting group, SANHEDRON, was created as a response to the cookie cutter, industry tendency to place people, music and ideas in tightly defined genres.
“SAN(s)” meaning without, and “HEDRON” meaning shape or form, literally translates to: “Shapeless” or “Without Form.” Applying this principle to the utmost, SANHEDRON peals away the layers of hype, misdirection and straight-out lies that bombard us daily; reducing everything back to its source, “No-Thing.”
After numerous shows on the legendary PGC scene throughout the end of the 90s, SANHEDRON developed a reputation for their hard cutting lyrics, dense rhythms and explosive live performances. Their unique blend of style and musical diversity combines the energy and talent of metal with the influence and swagger of hip-hop, producing something wholly authentic and interesting. “We believe that it is more productive to be yourself than someone else… ” Lead singer Jon Snow says, “and you’ll find that you get better results that way.”
The band experienced great success; playing with incredible acts, getting good media coverage and thrilling fans all over the area. But it seemed that SANHEDRON’s success was to be matched with challenges. Those challenges would hamper the members' available time and resources so much that the next few years saw scarcely any SANHEDRON performances.
But after a 4 year hiatus, SANHEDRON, reestablished itself stronger than ever. The time away provided an opportunity for the band to refine their goals, and develop as people and musicians. Pip (guitar), Jon (vocals), Paul (bass), Will (guitar) and GizMo (drums), now constitute SANHEDRON, one of the best kept secrets in the DC/MD/VA local music scene.
