With unplugged, funky, perfect harmonies and driving rhythm guitar, October Road leads you to a wonderful place. It is folk-rock poetry to travel with; the kinds of songs that quickly make friends with one's memory and day and lead to places within whilst riding the beautiful landscapes of America. Theirs is a stylistic approach to Americana with a depth message and an intensity that meshes perfectly. So perfectly in fact that often it as if you are hearing one voice yet two. They deliver attention-grabbing songs and lyrics that form exceptional word pictures with a cross-Atlantic lilt carrying you from the streams of Appalachia to the fishing boats of New England and to the Celtic shores of the British Isles. Their songs are about life, love, loss, pain and struggle...learning from it and coming through it out the other side hopefully a better, wiser person. There is something about October our memories can connect with in deep nostalgia and October Road’s songs and sound take us to that place. If you want to travel down a road then make it October Road.
Based in Kennebunk, Maine, October Road is Jeff Line and Heather Ann McLellan. Both were born in October and love everything about the month and the autumn season...there is nothing quite like it in New England. The pair has known each other since elementary school. They grew up together, attended high school together and were always very good friends. Their shared love of music and poetry (reading and writing) was certainly a contributing factor to that friendship. In 1990, as often happens in life, the two went their separate ways. Through the years the pair stayed in touch. Heather sang and performed with varied groups and acting troupes and Jeff played guitar and sang in bands ranging from rock and blues to country and folk. In 2006, fate brought them back together. Through their collective experiences apart during those years, they both realized that their early friendship was really so much more and it wasn’t long after that October Road was born. Childhood cemented the friendship and adulthood cemented the harmony.
They bring all of their influences to bear in their own music. Their influences include singer-songwriters such as Prine, Kristofferson, Loggins, and Fogelberg; great harmonizing/writing acts such as The Everly Brothers, Simon & Garfunkel, and Peter, Paul and Mary; rockers such as Heart, Journey, and Fleetwood Mac; pop artists such as Maroon 5, Pink, and Bruno Mars. October Road has built up an impressive catalog of cover songs (over 6 hours worth) from these and many other artists performed with their unique signature style.
Music has always been a shared passion of the duo and their performances reflect that love and their pure enjoyment of performing and of each other. Their energy and enthusiasm is infectious and the music is excellent...one can't help but smile, tap their feet, clap their hands, and want to sing along with October Road.
Jeff and Heather have recently completed their first CD titled, October Road. The CD was released independently on October 5, 2013. The duo is very excited to see the road ahead and enjoy the experiences that life has in store for them together.
