Born on, November, 21st 1984, in the small town of Mills River, North Carolina, Jeremy began his life surrounded by family, and music. His grandparents, James and Geraldine Hooper, were bluegrass pickers and singers, who, in there earlier years, had traveled to Nashville and recorded various country and bluegrass songs that they had written. Jeremy's earliest childhood memories recall family jam sessions in the living room of his grandparents home.
It wasn’t until Jeremy's teenage years that he expressed interest in actually learning to play an instrument. Amidst his high school career, Jeremy met a group of guitarists, who would come together a few nights a week and play. After attending a few of these meetings, Jeremy decided to become a part of the music, and purchased a drum set online. From then on he was hooked. And the group met several nights a week.
After three years of drumming, and after a generous bonus from his employer, Jeremy decided to purchase his first guitar. Within the first day of picking it up, he was writing his first song. That song was called “The Maze”, and 9 years later, became the title track of his debut album. “The Maze” was independently released by Jeremy in April of 2011, and was received very well by the public. He has played many shows in the Asheville, NC area, and he is currently planning his first tour which will occur summer of 2012.
Jeremy is a Singer Songwriter of the Blues/Folk genre. He is also the drummer for the Asheville based band “Red Honey”. And a big part of Ashevilles Hip Hop music scene as a member of “The Ville Boyz”
If you ask Jeremy why he loves playing music, his response will always be the same: “You shouldn't ever need a reason to love something. Music is just a part of me. Its a gift I am determined to share with the world.”
