Between the darkness and dawn of graveyard shift smoke breaks at a reality show post-production facility somewhere in Los Angeles, the Dead Ships began their voyage. What started as shared musical interests and jamming covers soon began to reveal an emergent originality. Devlin McCluskey (Guitar/Vocals) from Chicago and Christopher Spindelilus (Drums) from Alabama would lace their loves of blues, rock, garage and pop through the necessity of a unique interpretation that’s at the foundation of The Dead Ships rich, electric naturalism.
Live shows teeter like a tilted chair as Devlin’s vocals soar into the lyrical content while Chris’ drums fill the entire audible frame.
The decision to remain a duo retains a melodic clarity and rawness that make the songs so immediately attainable, visceral, hard to forget.
The Dead Ships self-released an EP (Spring 2011)
A new 7” vinyl is set for release Sept. 30, 2011, both available on Bandcamp.
