Following a chance meeting at a gig in October 2009, vocalist Joby Fitzgerald and drummer Harry Jennings decided, over a mutual love for metal, that perhaps a jamming session was in order. Two weeks later, with the addition of Youssef Ashraf on guitar, the guys found themselves holed up in Madhouse Studios in Birmingham. Armed with nothing more than a fistful of ideas and the volume turned up to 11 they, along with Ollie Pike on bass duty, began laying the foundations for what would eventually become their debut EP. CYTOTA was born.
After a summer of practice, in late 2010 CYTOTA hit Tree House Studios in Chesterfield with the UK's top breakthrough rock producers Jim Pinder and Carl Bown (Trivium, Machine Head, While She Sleeps) to begin recording their debut EP 'THE PROSECUTOR'. The band recorded seven tracks including 'Absorption' featuring Austin Dickinson from Rise To Remain.
With music to play and a live reputation to build, the band bagged themselves support slots with bands such as Funeral For A Friend, While She Sleeps and Rise To Remain. Following positive reviews and a growing fanbase, the band found their debut video 'Preparing For The Worst' playlisted on Scuzz TV with Kerrang Radio supporting too, scoring over 10,000 views on Youtube.
In November 2011, Ryan Hamilton was introduced into the band to take over Joby's guitar duties, allowing Joby focus full time on his front man responsibilities. With his assistance they re-entered the studio in early 2012 to put the finishing touches to THE PROSECUTOR.
Fast-forward to 2012 and CYTOTA have already had a huge year. They took to the road for their first UK tour (as support to Rise To Remain) in March, and their second single 'Between Jokers & Jesters' garnered early support from Radio 1 and Kerrang Radio; with Scuzz TV again featuring the video. Now, following their signing to independent UK label Believe Revolt - the band are set to release 'The Prosecutor' (with artwork supplied by Ollie Sykes no less) in fall 2012, with a brand new single 'The Closest Thing To A Hug Is A Headlock' to support it.
