They say stars are either born or made. But what about the stars that just fall in our laps. This is clearly the case when it comes to 22-year-old Jasmine Meeks, the newest Pop/R&B artist out of Chicago.
Singing all of her life, Jasmine burst onto the scene with her debut single, “Back to My Love,” an independent production co-written by her mentor, Grammy nominated singer/songwriter and producer, Aaron Sledge. Since then Jasmine has sang for superstar Tyrese, and performed for the Walgreens Corporation doing in store appearances.
When Aaron first heard Jasmine sing, he was struck by her harmonic tone and immediately pressed her about her plans for a singing career. With writing and production credits under his belt for a wide range of artists including Nelly, Tyrese, Mario, Mary Mary, and Shirley Caesar to name a few, Aaron recognized the star potential in Jasmine.
Jasmine is on the path of her music idols by making sure fans feel the music first and foremost. “My generation appreciates and listens to all types of music,” says Jasmine. No one genre of music defines us or me. “Sometimes I just want to sing about having fun with my girls. Other times, I want to talk about what it feels like to be in love or falling out of love. What I sing about is universal.”
