New Orleans 4-Piece SOMETHING BURNING is an Eclectic Rock band that was started in late 2010 by cellist/guitarist Daniel Andrews and guitarist/saxophonist PJ DiIorio. Both classically trained musicians and independent songwriters, the two formed the band early in their time at Loyola University New Orleans.
The goal of Something Burning was to fuse rock, funk, and reggae by combining the instrumentation of cello, guitar, and saxophone with a rock rhythm section.
Many musicians filtered through Something Burning’s rhythm section until in 2012 bassist Stephen Bohnstengel joined and added jazz to the list of genres in SB’s sonic fingerprint. In 2013, with Pepe Wright on drums, Something Burning headed into the studio to record their first official EP, Strike Anywhere. They now have a new drummer, Cairon, who is playing in place of Pepe.
