Ken Martin has many years of experience on the stage, studio, and classroom. He is an industry "jack-of-all-trades." He has experience working as a solo performer, sideman, recording artist, pit orchestra member, audio engineer, teacher, and booking agent.
Ken began his performing career in his teenage years in the Florida Panhandle, playing in the local punk rock and metal scene with several different bands. Transitioning from being a self-taught musician, Ken began taking college music classes at Northwest Florida State College in 2007. He was accepted at Berklee College of Music in Boston and attended Berklee’s Guitar Sessions program in the summer of 2009. After returning to Florida; Ken completed his Associate of Science Degree in Recording Arts Technologies, Associate of Arts Degree in General Education, and Certificate of Completion in a Pro-Tools program at Northwest Florida State College.
Ken spent several years in Florida honing his skills, playing in several Northwest Florida State College ensembles. He played guitar for the college’s jazz band and show choir, while also singing in the Symphonic Chorale and Madrigals Singers. While in college, he worked in the recording studio where he would record recitals and performances as well as edit music for plays and dances. Because of his multiple talents and his passion for music, he established lasting relationships with musicians and staff.
Ken’s interest in music is not just an academic endeavor. Outside of school, Ken has established himself as a multi-dimensional musician. He performed at local establishments; notably, performing covers as a member of bands and also as a solo artist. He also shared his education, experience, and talent with students by teaching guitar lessons privately throughout the panhandle. Ken branched out further by working as a Freelance Audio Engineer for Majestic Entertainment Partners. All of these activities prepared him for his future studies.
In 2015, Ken transferred to Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee to study Commercial Music. While advancing his knowledge through the continuation of his studies, Ken performs as a sideman with several acts throughout the region. Ken wishes to continue his studies and get his Doctorate in musicology while continuing to work in the industry.
Thus far, Ken continues to perform with artists such as The Low Frequency Buzz, Adamantverse, Burning November, Kontraband Muzik, Dew Pendleton, Michelle Knopick and many more. He has also performed in productions of Les Miserable, Spamalot, and Oklahoma. In addition to his performance experience, Ken has worked as an audio engineer for various companies in performances of Shrek, The Color Purple, Rock of Ages. He continually looks for new opportunities and gets great personal satisfaction out of performing and working in all facets of the music industry.
