Eyes of the Heretic started out as Hellthy Notion in December of 2008. Vocalist Andrew Velazquez had decided to form a band, so his girlfriend called up Mogar, who played guitar, asking him if he'd play. They were joined by Sean Josephson on bass. They played as a trio for a while, recording some songs on an mp3 player with a mic.
Eventually, they felt they needed to add another member, so they picked up Jimmy McBroom, who was playing with the band Salamis at the time. He helped to improve their songwriting ability, with Pull My Strings being one of the songs written during the summer of 2009.
The band had a habit of breaking up habitually during the extended breaks from school, but just before the 4 members graduated in 2010 that changed. They began to put a serious effort into the project, and this revitalised effort was marked by the addition of a drummer, Swanky Tits, a first for the band, and by a name change to Eyes of the Heretic, a play on a Lamb of God lyric.
The band wrote more songs at this point. In the summer of 2010 they parted ways with Josephson and added Sean Abernathy to lineup on bass, and have been playing shows since then. They are currently working on recording a short, 2-3 song EP, for release at an as-yet-undetermined date.
