Slowpoke Rodriguez is a stoner/doom metal band formed in Pensacola, Florida, USA in April of 2011. The band was formed by vocalist Beav Kenoyer when he contacted his old friend Matt Boyden and asked if he was down to work on some sludgy riffs with him. The two then wrangled Beav’s roommate, Brandon McKendrick (Keith Stone) to play drums, and the trio was on their way. For about two weeks, Grant Scott played rhythm guitar, but then he left due to a hectic work schedule. He was replaced by Brandon “Big Werm” Keenan on bass guitar. Big Werm left the band in June of 2011 due to conflicting musical interests and was quickly replaced by Jeff Walton. After a few more months, the band decided due to musical differences that they were going to part with Jeff and in April of 2012 recruited Greg Hammac (ex Netherborn) to join on bass. Brandon quit in July of 2012, so we got Andy May on Drums, and Jeff Walton came back to play bass after the hiatus. The 4-piece is playing plenty of local shows, opening for such headliners as Goatwhore, Immortal Guardian, Jucifer, Maylene & The Sons Of Disaster, Riotgod, Confused Little Girl, His Name Was Yesterday, Poisonwood, Fair To Midland, Mose Giganticus, and others. They plan to be touring in winter 2012-13 to support their debut album (or EP), so look for them in a city near you. The "Comfy Chair For Blazing" EP is scheduled for release on January 11, 2013.
