Formed in the summer of 2007, this Chicago based band features the vintage guitar work of Patrick Dugan and the distinct vocal styling of Amanda Riva. Harlan Flo has played hundreds of performances around the Chicago area and regionally. They have been featured on Comcast OnDemand and WXRT 93.1 Local Anesthetic. Their second album, Strategy, was released in spring 2012 and received great reviews internationally. Harlan Flo is currently performing as an acoustic/electric trio with Mikey Knight playing the cajun (spanish box drum). Their repertoire contains over one hundred classic-rock covers featuring a new "song of the week".
Patrick Dugan -guitar/vocals- Patrick's influences include Jimi Hendrix, SRV, and Bob Marley. He is a Berklee alumnus- 2005, teaches guitar lessons at Musical Expressions in Naperville, IL and also plays with the Lauren Wolf Band.
Amanda Riva -rhythm guitar/vocals- Amanda's Influences include Nirvana, Norah Jones, and Bonnie Raitt. She is a choral veteran and in addition to music is studying to be a nurse’s assistant.
John Baker - aka “Jungle Dog” -bass- Moved to Chicago just shy of 21, John was soon working with musicians who inspired the music he grew up on; backing a gospel group with pianist Sonny Thompson, a producer for King and Chess records, touring with Hubert Sumlin, and doing gigs where heavyweights like Buddy Guy and Junior Wells would sit in. Among John's influences are the Stones, Tower of Power, and The Band.
Aaron Apter -drums- Aaron’s influences include the Beatles, Police, and the Meters. He has played with bands such as Ekoostik Hookah, Wynton Marsalis and Wolfgang Parker. Currently he is involved with several groups around town including his own project Plastic Boots.
Mikey Knight -cajon/percussion- Mikey’s influences include the Parliament Funkadelic’s, Grateful Dead, and anything that’s funky. He specializes in nontraditional percussion.
Patrick Dugan and John Baker met while playing together with area bluesman Chainsaw Dupont, during that time they recorded albums Ghost Kings of Beale St and The Real Guitar Hero. They started performing as a trio in 2007 when Chainsaw took a brief hiatus but did not settle on a band until Amanda Riva Joined the band in 2008. Aaron Apter moved to Chicago in 2010 and was referred to the band by local drum guru Ed Breckenfeld. The band started playing with Mikey Knight as an acoustic trio every Friday in 2012 at Casa Santiago in Yorkville,IL. Harlan Flo can currently be booked as a full electric band or a more intimate acoustic trio.
