Kip Lawrence is a writer living in Matlacha and formerly performed with the national touring act, The Yard Dogs. As a band they released 11 cd's in 10 years of performing original "Florida Swamp" music for their fans all over the world. He founded both The SW Fla Songwriters Fest with Drew Reid and The SW Florida Blues Fest which is currently in it's 15th year of bringing great music to SW Florida. As a solo performer, Kip brings that infectious humor associated with the band as well as his ballads and a sprinkling of self penned fingerstyle instrumentals on the 6 string guitar or banjo. He lives in an old fishing village called Matlacha, (Mat-La-shay) a picturesque seaside island, off the coast of SW Florida and loves to sit on a stool telling stories while singing songs and communicating with the audience.
Since retiring from The Yard Dogs, Kip now works sporadically.....has become a hermit and lives quietly with his wife, daughter, 4 dogs, two birds, a cat, some fish in an aquarium and a bunch of fish living under his dock waiting for scraps. He still writes every day and always has a song in his head. His solo cd "Alone With A Song" paved his way when initially released in 2000 by receiving radio airplay in many towns up and down the east coast. If fact, his first date with his wife was a road trip to play Boston, New York and Vermont.

"I love to write songs and share them. I often do so either with The Yard Dogs or as a solo or with just about anyone that will sit for a spell and listen. I tend to write many, many songs in the hope that one of them will be good. Listen to some of my stuff and let me know if you like 'em. If you don't like them, just shut up as I don't need negativity."
