Adhering to the gypsy minstrel traditions of his ancestors, that trace their origins to the early 12th century, Hoseff brings to life a style of music that owes as much to it’s ethnic roots and story-telling base as it does to Neo-Continental rock and blues. With the release of his debut album, Modern Gypsies, Hoseff keeps this “Gitanos” musical tradition alive with spirited vocals, haunting melodies and a truly original sound. His voice is spell binding like that of a gypsy story-teller and his songs come directly from his experiences as an urban observer and metropolitan traveler.
Hoseff is a singer, songwriter, performer and producer. Among the original compositions on Modern Gypsies, are lyrical arrangements from legendary Spanish poet, Federico Garcia Lorca and Akron-based lyricist Charles Auerbach, whose work was included on an early Black Keys album. Angie Haze, a talented vocalist and pianist with strong ties to her Italian heritage, also accompanies Hoseff on Modern Gypsies.
