Born in Kilkenny Ireland, Darren is a prolific songwriter with exceptional vocal talents. His early solo career saw him support many artists, including Boyzone, The Backstreet Boy's, East 17, Paul Young, Bonnie Tyler, Peter Andre, and Belinda Carlisle. He's had top ten hits in Ireland, and has released 3 solo albums, all in different genres. His second, Live & Learn, yielded 3 top 30 US airplay hits and saw Darren nominated as 'Best Country Male Artist', in the New Music Weekly Awards. The latest album Roadworks, released in 2006, has a fine blend of ballads with rockier songs, including That’s What I Miss About New York City.
Darren has starred on Broadway and extensively toured the US playing both the lead vocalist in Riverdance, and the lead vocalist/pianist in the Tony Award winning Billy Joel/Twyla Tharp musical Movin Out. He has also clocked up more than 500 American Primetime TV appearances on CBS, FOX,NBC. He has regularly performed with "The New York State of Mind" band which features The Billy Joel band with Darren taking the place of the main man on piano and lead vocals.
His phenomenal rendition of the US National Anthem has made Darren a popular choice for sports events and he has performed the Anthem for an estimated 1.5 million people. He has also performed for President and Mrs. Bush, and other dignitaries.
In June 2007, Darren joined the new Irish group "The High Kings". Their debut album and concert DVD were both released on the EMI MANHATTAN label on Feb 2008 and were very successful both sides of the Atlantic, achieving platinum status in Ireland. They were signed to Universal Ireland and released their second album, Memory Lane in February 2010 which went platinum 4 months after release. The album released in the US on the 8 March 2011.
