Kitten With a Whip is an energetic alternative rock band led by all-female band veteran Audrey Moesch. Formed in San Diego in 1995 by Audrey and then lead guitarist Mark Cover, the band delivers a blend of rock, funk and world music enriched by soaring melodies, jamming solos and solid rhythmic grooves.
There’s something for everyone, as singer/guitarist Audrey composes such rousing, relationship survival anthems as “I Believe in Me” and angst-filled (6/4-timed) rocker “Monster” to the happy dance tunes of world beat-inspired “JuJu” and Latin-influenced “To Be.” Her influences include The Beatles, The Police, U2, The Pretenders and other female singer/songwriters like Alanis Morissette.
Completing the lineup are experienced jammers of any style: Los Angeles Academy of Music grad/lead guitarist Eddie Kolenski, rock and punk bassist Tom Borg, and rock and ska drum veteran Kent Graves.
The group has performed at such top clubs as the House of Blues, Humphreys Backstage, the Casbah and major events like the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon, Ocean Beach Street Fair and the 2012 Bird Park Summer Concert Series to over 900 people, playing their own tunes. The band’s also received radio airplay on 91X and KPRI’s Homegrown Hour.
