The Curse of Sorrow formed in late 2006, formerly as Brother, in Edwardsville, PA. They play a blend of alternative hard rock and metal with heavy influence from classic horror films. The band describes their style as "Grave Rock", and while the music is serious, layered, and anthemic, in the vein of some 80's powerhouse metal bands, the song subjects are sometimes tongue in cheek and fun. That big style mixed with the members onstage charisma and energy brings the fan a very involved and fist pumping live set.
Nick Necro, the energetic front man, dumps everything he's got into his live shows. Down on his knees crawling the stage, on top of bars, or standing on speakers, he keeps the crowd's attention and includes them in mic in the face sing a longs. He is backed by a hard hitting and talented band made up of Jay Bones (lead guitar/back vox), Mark Massacre (rythm guitar/back vox), Steve Slaughter (bass guitar/back vox), and Evil Eric (drums). The band is no different in crowd interaction. Stage front, on top of barriers, and even in the crowd, members weave in and out making it a show that no one can get away from and one that everyone should want to be involved.
The band members themselves have many diverse musical influences, but together they have a sound as heavy as Korn and Mudvayne, but aren't afraid to touch on a more delicate side playing songs that are more reminiscent of 80's ballads. They've shared the stage with national acts such as Gwar, Suicide City, Dope, Murderdolls, 12 Stones, Wednesday 13, and even The Ataris.
The band's new full legnth "Only a Shadow Remains" is a powerful combination of rock, horror, hard work, and lots and lots of sweat and of course....blood.
