Race to the Bottom is an ROCK band hailing from Sacramento, CA.
Formed in 2010, the band consists of Art Barrera (formerly of Cambio De Piel) on Vocals, Sean O’Leary on Drums, Jim Peoples (Formerly of XL) on Bass and Joe Whitworth on Guitar.
Each member brings their very different influences and histories together to create a dynamic sound all it’s own.
Race to the Bottom has had well earned success with airplay on 98 Rock, v103, KDVS and S4N Radio, Cape Radio, C.O.A.R. Radio and more. RTTB has performed at Sacramento’s largest rock festival, v103 Rockfest twice in 2013 & 2014, Ace of Spades and various venues. Race to the Bottom has also brought their show to support national acts such as Alien Ant Farm, Scott Weiland, Supersuckers, Technicolors. Fictionist along with supporting local top draw bands.
The band recorded their first EP Stereotypical in 2014 with Sean Stack at Fat Cat Recording Studio. It is safe to say RTTB will always record with Stack as he brings out and captures the best in the bands recordings.
2015 brought on lineup changes and reasons to record. With the addition to Art the band dared to release only one song "Fateful Day" to redefine their identity. It worked as the band experienced strong success on the grounds of this 1 song. Fateful Day received "most likes" on Local Licks 98 Rock, Top 5 songs for 2015 Cape Radio, won "Best of Program" video for the 16th annual Sacramento Film & Music Festival and the band is up for Sammie nomination (Sacramento Area Music Award) for Rock and Live Performance categories.
Race to the Bottom has gained more success in being recognized in their hometown by taking home two 2016 Sammies Awards for "rock" and "live performer" categories. A huge honor for the band with many fans saying "well deserved".
The music is strong and Art, Sean, Jim and Joe take special pride into putting on a genuine Rock & Roll show!
Now it is 2016 and the guys of RTTB continue to push forward and lure in new fans. RTTB is back in the studio gearing up to release new music and to continue their energetic shows for their fans.
