There is no telling what Nesta! will be up to next. This songstress is busy at work creating new music for a 2015 release while also finding time to travel the world in search of the next adventure. “It is important for me to see the world as I think it helps me to understand the complexity of the human condition and this makes me a better artists and story teller” say Nesta! This northern California native and southern California transplant is off to a good start with the 2014 Idyllwld international film festival award for Best Music Video, for her single Take Me! This award comes hot off the tail of her 2012 Malibu music award for best pop song, Fly Free. Nesta! shows no signs of slowing down. “I am just coming into my own and every year I get more passionate and comfortable about who I am and what I want to do!”
Nesta! born in to music loving parents was influenced by the likes of Bob Dylan, Janis Joplin, and Joan Baez. It was her early admiration for these musical poets that incited her to start to writing her own music. Nesta relays, “I love the fearlessness of these musicians. They didn’t have a roadmap to where they were going, but they had a passion and relentlessness that made them the shiny stars they are. I respect that kind of raw artistic energy and can only hope I have the chance to realize my art they way these legends have.”
In the face of the many challenges of the industry, Nesta has consistently driven her career forward with her love and determination to create music that comes alive during her live performance. Nesta’s live shows include a spectacle of props, costumes, and acrobatics. She remarks, “Many of the shows I see are missing that element of surprise and for me this an important part of my art. I want people to come to the show and be conflicted about whether to dance or jump on stage and join the show .“ The infectious nature of Nesta’s live performance is just that, and many of the audience members end up joining in the fun. “The show isn’t for me, it’s for them so why not invite them to participate?”
Nesta! has learned to enjoy the ride and the uncertainty of the music industry. “Whenever I get lost about where I am headed, I just let it go and know that the road of a musician is not a defined one. I become more and more comfortable in just letting go and letting waves and wind take me!
