The Gil Correia Band is a three-piece blues band, described by the band’s founder and namesake, Gil Correia, as having a “raw, hard-driving” sound.
The members of the band include Dave Baker on drums, Scott Cormier on bass and Gil Correia on vocals and guitar.
Gil’s journey to becoming an accomplished blues musician is an unusual one. He didn’t start seriously playing the guitar until he was 42.
“I always wanted to be a musician,” Correia says, conceding that he didn’t have his act together early in life. “Later in my life, in my forties, I said ‘I’m going to learn how to play the guitar. Seriously learn how to play it and make music and make a living a doing that. And I did.”
Gil was mentored by New England-based Blues Master, Ricky "King" Russell and credits Russell's expert skills and guidance for putting him where he is today.
Gil Correia, Scott Cormier and Dave Baker describe themselves as “musically connected” to one another and that vibe is evident when you listen to their music and watch them perform together. It was the band’s easy-going, organic chemistry that inspired them to record their first album together.
“Tattoos and Blues” dropped in June 2011.
