Marc Evans (34) has been given a publishing and distribution deal with Mojo Records in order to release a new EP in the new year.
With his songs already recorded, Marc expects his EP, named ‘War-Torn Heart’, to be released on iTunes and Amazon in late February.
The Wishaw strummer won record execs over with his smokey vocals and laidback acoustic set-up which draws heavily from Americana influences such as acclaimed singer-songwriter Ryan Adams.
He explained: “I was doing the annual rounds, contacting record labels and sending my music to them, and Mojo got back to me, asking me what my plans were going forward.
“They eventually decided that I fit well into what the label were trying to do at the moment, which was a mix of blues, rock and Americana.
Growing up in Glasgow, Marc spent some time living in Bellshill, before moving to Wishaw.
He played in a number of bands across the area over the years, mainly taking on lead guitar duties and backing vocals, but two years ago decided to forge his own path as a singer-songwriter.
“I had always fancied myself as a singer, and I had written for all my previous bands,” he said.
“And by working myself, I didn’t have to rely on four or five other people turning up on time to rehearse.”
Marc’s major influences include Bob Dylan and Neil Young, along with a host of other Americana singer-songwriters
